Thanks to ForWeb for those wonderful awards given to GenSTEPS – it’s very appreciated and gives us more drive to make GenSTEPS even better in the year 2000 and beyond! Posted on

As I’ve told a few people and have thought all along, the US Step One album will have the same look and feel as the UK Steptacular album. This has been confirmed but the cover hasn’t been printed yet so as soon as it is I’m sure GenSTEPS will get a copy!

Faye gets her nipples pierced?!

Posted on

Early sales show that the UK’s top three singles are yet to change from last week’s positions, so it seems that Steps aren’t going to get the first number one of the year 2000 (like they did last year with the first number one of 1999). Thanks to Char for sending this in: STEPS FAYE […]

Christmas single sales drop year on-year

Posted on

We have been informed that Steps will be on Dutch channel TMF again on 21 December at 4pm. It is a repeat of last year’s special. Despite Steps only charting at number seven, it seems the UK chart’s sales this year are way below previous years. If I recall correctly last year both the Spice […]

Say You’ll Be Mine charts at #7

Posted on

OK, so Steps get a UK #7 in the 1999 Christmas chart – but Say You’ll Be Mine / Better The Devil You Know has received a silver certification whereas Westlife (who went number one) don’t have anything. So why is this? Firstly it could just been an error at Dotmusic, but I believe it […]

When GenSTEPS says we have the contacts, we don’t lie. We’ve been on the phone to the people that we know asking a few questions, and of course we got some answers! Many people have emailed me, or asked in their tour reviews why STEPS tour wasn’t sang completely live or why there was no […]

The battle for Christmas #1 is on!

Posted on

The battle for the UK #1 single at Christmas is on! With some interesting events… Steps’ CD is released on one CD format with the usual 3 tracks, enhanced section and poster. It by far looks like the most impressive single out this week. Westlife has also only released one CD (unless my local HMV […]

More Christmas TV appearances

Thanks to everyone who sent in news recently, keep those stories coming in to the usual address! It seems that Steps might be getting more success slowly in the US! Tragedy has been played on KTU Radio in New York (one of the biggest Stations in NY). It was played at 7.10pm ET! Perhaps this […]

Shania Twain topples Steptacular by just 500 copies!

Posted on

GenSTEPS has received the news that Shania Twain’s album Come On Over just pipped Steptacular last week to reclaim the UK #1 album. Reports suggest that Shania sold just 500 copies more than Steps. Unfortunately it seems Steps won’t be reclaiming the top spot this weekend as it seems destined to go to George Michael […]

This year Steps hosted and opened the Smash Hits Poll Winners’ Party 1999. Steps performed Better The Devil You Know and went on to host the show with excellence! Unlike last year, Steps picked up an award! Not a major award, but H won the Funniest Person In Pop award. Steps came second in the […]

Steps odds for Christmas number one unchanged

Posted on

So the single release gets closer and closer but what is the industry expecting to top the UK Ccarts on 19 December? The bookies have once again changed their odds, but Steps remain unchanged. The top three favourites are Cliff Richard (evens), Westlife (7/4) and John Lennon (5/2). Steps are sixth favourites at 16/1 but […]

Steps ignored in Record Of The Year

Posted on

After coming third in last year’s Record Of The Year list with One For Sorrow, Steps have been ignored this year and did not even make the shortlist of 20. Due to this, it means we have to vote for someone else (if we want to of course!). My vote would have to go to […]
