I have been very reliably informed today that Steps are considering postponing the release of the much-anticipated debut single from the second album for a week to 12 July. The reason for this? Gary Barlow. The ex-Take That mega star releases his first single in over two years on 5 July and it has been tipped to storm in at number one: the very position Steps will be aiming for with the release of Love’s Got A Hold On My Heart / Hero.

It is essential that Steps secure that number one position to confirm their popularity, and to get their second album off to a good start. Other artists releasing singles on 5 July include the Manic Street Preachers – whereas on 12 July, 5ive and Ronan Keating will be releasing their new singles.

The question is… can you the Steps fans wait an extra week to get your mits on that shiny new single? Well at least they are on TV all the time to compensate! Talking of TV appearances, Steps were on the Big Breakfast AGAIN today with a long and extremely interesting interview with Johnny and Kelly. There were loads of naughty little secrets about our innocent five revealed. Including the one Faye wishes to forget: her old nickname… sparkle! Well I like it, I don’t see what all the fuss is about.

And Lisa thought a road sign in her driving test meant there were camels up ahead! And I don’t think Claire is so innocent. Her nick name at school was lefty, after an accident involving a tight top and things falling out of it! Lee got away completely unembarrassed as he only wanted a particularly sad hair cut. But our H, well what can be said about him… not only did he eat frog spawn, set caterpillars free in his grandparents’ house but he also set fire to the entire top floor of his parents house! And yet another TV appearance on 4 July – Steps will be appearing on the popular TV program Fully Booked.
