Steps in 2022

Record of the year

Posted on

In the new UK Charts released today, Stomp falls to number 47 on the singles chart, Buzz drops to number 13 but is now certified 2x Platinum showing UK shipments of over 600,000 copies! The Wembley live video drops two places to number three on the video chart.
I’m sure many of you watched the Record of the Year last night on ITV, shame STEPS never even got any sort of short listing. Anyway I was just worried how Westlife one yet again, My Love is just a typical ballad and typically Westlife, think of the great pop songs that have been released this year – many not even short listed – and we go and choose Westlife, it has to be a slight concern, at least S Club 7 and Robbie gave them a bit of a battle!

The good old Smash Hits Poll Winners Party was today, if you missed it don’t panic as Sky One are showing them next weekend. STEPS opened the show and gave a performance of Stomp. The results concerning STEPS where as follows:

In the Best British Band category STEPS came in 2nd, losing it to 5ive of all groups! STEPS did come above A1 (3rd), S Club 7 (4th) and the Spice Girls (5th)!
In the Funniest Person in Pop H once again picked up the award. He beat of competition from Robbie Williams (2nd), Richard Blackwood (3rd), Bryan from Westlife (4th) and Will Smith (5th).
In the Best Band in the Universe, STEPS came 3rd. Westlife (yawn) came first, once again 5ive beat STEPS by coming second (annoying boy bands!) 4th where A1 and the Backstreet Boys came 5th making STEPS the only non-boy band act in the top 5, that has to be pretty good!

The full results will be posted here very soon so check back shortly for that!
