Has Jive Records made the same mistake again?
Has Jive Records jeopardised another number one single for Steps? After the problems with Love’s Got A Hold On My Heart, with both CDs priced at £3.99 and a poor enhanced section, sales were lower than predicted.
Now, After The Love Has Gone is set to face the same problems. Released on one CD and priced at £3.99, it means that this CD already costs more than last week’s number single, and most of the top 10, (most CDs are still £2.99, on two CDs). Due to this, Steps seem certain to have a top five hit. The one CD format is quite common for singles due out just before an album because the record companies want people to wait and buy the album rather than singles due to higher profit margins.
