The new chart was announced today and Words Are Not Enough / I Know Him So Well entered at number 5 on the singles chart. Also Chain Reaction remained inside the top 75, at number 62. Gold Greatest Hits moves back up to number four and now sits above the Westlife album (haha – sorry!). The Gold video / DVD release falls to number three on the videos chart.

Tonight saw the annual Smash Hits Poll Winners Party, for the first time on Channel 4 and not BBC1. Steps’ positions were as follows:

Best Live Act: Steps
Best Female Haircut: Faye
Best Male Haircut: H came 7th
Most Fancible Female: Lisa was 6th, Faye was 8th
Best Dance Act: Steps came in 5th
Best Single: Chain Reaction was 8th
Best Band: Steps made the top 4

3SL picked up the award for Best New Tour Act, previous winners include Backstreet Boys, Westlife, Boyzone.
