Steps overtake Spice Girls in charts success
Steps have overtaken the Spice Girls in the list of most-successful acts in the British charts. They have gone to number 97 in the chart compiled by the Guinness Book Of Hit Singles. The ratings are based on how many weeks artists have spent in the charts. The Spice Girls have slipped out of the Top 100 to number 109. Madonna has overtaken Diana Ross to go to number five, while Kylie Minogue has risen to number 40 and U2 have climbed to number 45. Elvis Presley remains number one, with Cliff Richard at two, the Shadows at three and Elton John at four. The Beatles are in ninth position.
