Faye is not quitting Steps

Posted on

From MTV UK:

Steps singer Faye Tozer has firmly denied she’s quitting the band. Reports in the British press on Friday claimed Faye felt she’d out grown Steps, was tired of the groups gruelling schedule, and was planning to get married this year to her boyfriend Jasper, who she’s been dating for three years.

However a statement from Faye herself released by her record label today says:

“Contrary to the story in todays papers I have been writing for and recording Steps’ third album which is going brilliantly and I am also excited about the forthcoming tour. All in all things could not be better for steps right now, all is fine in Steps and I have no intention of going anywhere.”

I have heard that Faye was on Radio 1 today denying reports that she is leaving the band.

This was on BBC Text:

“STEPS Star Faye Tozer may quit the top-selling band and go solo, reports say.”

And this was on Dotmusic:

The future of pop band Steps is in tatters, after it emerged that Faye Tozer has quit the group. Faye has apparently had enough of the band’s gruelling touring schedule and promotional activities and announced to management that she wants out. According to The Sun newspaper, the band’s tour, which gigs off in Glasgow in May, is now in jeopardy. Faye apparently wants to go solo, and work with her Dutch boyfriend Jasper, who she is also planning to marry. A Steps insider said: ‘Faye’s really excited about the whole thing and has told me she’s grown out of Steps and wants to look forward to doing something else.’

What does GenSTEPS think about this? Well for starters, it is taken from The Sun tabloid newspaper. If you remember last year we had reports from the same newspaper about the boys being paid more than the girls and about Claire stealing her mum’s boyfriends – all of which were denied by the band and their management.

More on the new single, GenSTEPS believes that the new song has a different name to the one stated yesterday but the release date still stands.
