Faye denies she is quitting Steps

From Worldpop:

Faye Tozer has exclusively been speaking to Worldpop about the false story in today’s tabloids, claiming she’s leaving Steps. “The first I heard about it was when my mum phoned me up this morning and said, ‘I’ve just read the papers, are you alright, dear?’! The story is just so full of inaccuracies, there’s not one thing true in it.

“Some of it is quite funny, actually … they even say I’m getting married this year which is news to me! And they say I met my Dutch boyfriend in Denmark when I was an assistant in his magic act. Well, he’s not Dutch, he’s never been a magician and we met in Kilburn! It’s quite upsetting though because a lot of fans will be reading it and they won’t know what’s going on, and if they’ve bought tickets for the tour they’ll want to know if it’s still on. So thanks to Worldpop I can assure fans I’m definitely not leaving.”

The band are currently in rehearsals for their mammoth new arena tour, which kicks off in Glasgow on 6 May. They also ventured into the studio last week to start work on their third album.

“This is the most exciting time for Steps,” said Faye. “We’re working with other producers like Max Martin, as well as Pete Waterman and we’re writing with different artists as well. In June I’m going to be songwriting with Cyndi Lauper who’s always been a musical hero of mine. I said ages ago I’d love to write with her so I can’t believe it’s actually happening! We all can’t wait for the tour either … in fact, we’ve only just begun!”

For those of you that don’t know, Max Martin is the producer behind some of the biggest pop tunes in the world. He has worked on the biggest selling pop albums in the world including the Backstreet Boys, *N’Sync and Britney Spears all of which are on Jive Records, now all Steps need is the Nigel Dick video! (Some of you will understand this, others won’t!)
