Steps in 2022

Cheiron Studios to close

Posted on

It seems that the new albums from Steps and the Backstreet Boys might be the last produced at the world famous Cheiron Studios in Sweden. This was posted today: “After eight years of incredible joy but also enormous pain (the death of our beloved partner Denniz Pop) it’s time to move on. Cheiron was created with the intention of having fun, making a few hits and not getting to serious about it. At the end of this year we have fulfilled our commitments and are able to do as we please. We feel that the “hype” of Cheiron has become bigger than itself and it’s time to quit while we’re ahead. Denniz made all the incredible success we have experienced possible and we want Cheiron to be remembered like it is today. We would like to thank everybody who shared their talent with us, to many to mention here, and hope we will see you in the future. We will continue to work together in various constellations in the spirit of Denniz Pop. Stockholm August 2000 Tom Talomaa & Max Martin.”

We know that Steps are recording at Battery Studios in New York which Max Martin also works from, so despite Cheiron closing don’t expect Max Martin to stop producing, he will probably re-locate to another studio like those in NY. Max Martin has own many awards including Pop Writer of the year for the past two years.

Not really news but a good idea came in from Derek. He was wondering if Steps should be up for the Comic Relief song in 2001. Previous groups who have done the song have been the Spice Girls and Boyzone. So if you think Steps should be doing this year’s song and have contacts in the BBC or know who we should go about starting a campaign for Steps then please get in contact with us! Also what song should they do? Should it be an original number, a cover or a double-A single, if they where chosen? While UK boyband Spin City were supporting Steps on tour, they revealed that the girls drank until 5am – but H tried to strip after half a larger shandy and had to be put to bed. I have no clue how true this is but hey it is from The Sun so I think we all know what to make of it!
