Vote for Steps

Posted on

This week, Planet Pop on Channel 4’s The Bigger Breakfast is running a phone-in vote for your favourite moments from the last series. So what are you all waiting for? Get voting and you could see Love’s Got A Hold On My Heart played on the final programme of the series: Planet Pop – The Best Of (So Far). The six most popular clips of the series will be shown. The number to call is below and it will only take you around a minute: 0900 1 44 77 05. And if you would like to see the US version of the One For Sorrow video, hop on over to the address below. It’s just as good as the US version of the song, which is superb if you haven’t yet heard it. And it features a disco, what more could you possibly ask for? It’s better than the original video and the remix is equally as Spectacular, well worth a look. Thanks to Eric for this information. One For Sorrow US Video.

I didn’t see this until today. I was looking through my brother’s old Entertainment Weekly (a north American magazine). In the 22-29 January 1999 issue, there was this article called CHART-CHARGING WANNABES- THE NEW FLAVORS TO BUBBLEGUM POP. They talked about B*Witched, C Note, LFO, The Moffats and Steps. This is what it said about Steps: Think: late 90s ABBA. These twenty-something’s may signal the next music trend: coed pop. Catchiest lyric: “You’re mine, all mine now bubba / Going to rope you in”. There is a picture of Steps at the bottom and it is the picture featured on the Last Thing On My Mind CD single. Steps will be getting exposure in Canada as Better Best Forgotten is included on the new compilation Pop-2000 with songs by Britney Spears, ‘NSync, and Brandy.

Last Night (Wednesday 25 August) on Z95.3 (Vancouver Radio Station) Steps were up against the Backstreet Boys. The two songs were One For Sorrow and Larger Than Life. Unfortunately the Backstreet Boys won for the 7th time. The BSB had 82% of votes by callers and Steps had only 18%. Steps don’t have a chance of ever being played on this radio station now, because if you lose the “hit election” you’re barely ever going to be played again. Here’s the address to my site :
