Seems that 1999 will be a good year for Steps with all their current releases in the respective charts. Details from the chart shows that Heartbeat / Tragedy is selling in the region of 100,000 copies a week! It has sold over 650,000 copies already and was the 12th-biggest selling single of 1998! Steps are also recording a new album.

From Dotmusic:

Stepping into the studio. Just one day after celebrating their first singles number one, Steps are back in the studio recording their second album. There is no break for the band who currently have the top-selling single in the UK with their double-A side Heartbeat / Tragedy, and the hit album Step One. They went into Pete Waterman’s Hit Factory in South London on Monday 4 January to record the new material which sources close to the band say should be out in October – in time for next Christmas. Before that, two more singles are tipped to be released from Step One which has spent 16 weeks in the official album chart, reaching as high as number two. It has so far sold 770,000 copies and looks certain to be a million seller by February.
