Channel 4’s teletext service singles of the year (pg 144) has placed Steps at number five with Say You’ll Be Mine. This is what they had to say:
“Almost overlooked among the Westlife / Cliff / Hamsters Christmas number one race, which was a birrova shame. Certainly, the gang saved their best (so far) til last, with a watertight groove showing off everyone’s harmonies to perfection.”

Steps have also taken the top spot in calendar sales!

STEPS ARE TOP CALENDAR GIRLS AND BOYS

Teen heart-throbs Steps have topped the charts as this year’s biggest selling pop act – for calendars.
The five-piece group, who scored their first Number One with Heartbeat/Tragedy at the start of the year, sold more than 85,000 copies of their calendar.
They beat off strong competition from Boyzone and Sir Cliff Richard, according to figures compiled by official calendar maker Danilo.
