Steps in 2022

Single Update, Full Party In The Park story

Posted on

It seems that letting the fans choose the single instead of the act and their people isn’t having the effect that Jive and Steps would have helped! According to midweek sales figures Steps where sitting at Number 3 on the singles chart. The full details are: 1. 45,660 – ANGEL – SHAGGY FT RAYVON 2. 29,524 – DO YOU REALLY LIKE IT – DJ PIED PIPER 3. 27,760 – HERE AND NOW/YOU’LL BE SORRY – STEPS 4. 26,696 – WE COME 1- FAITHLESS 5. 22,140 – ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE – BRANDY & RAY J Thanks to Chris for the sales figures! Looking at this Steps are only 1,764 copies behind the number two song, but Faithless are only 828 copies behind Steps. Now you can see how close it is so make sure you buy the single and make everyone else buy it too! The number one spot isn’t out of reach yet either. Saturday sales are generally good for Steps so we have one full day left to change this! So get buying! Thanks to Ricky for The Sun article about the Party In The Park fiasco: STEPS have been snubbed by organisers of next month’s Party In The Park for being too “lightweight.” Lee, H, Claire, Faye and Lisa were told they are too poppy for the July 8 bash in London’s Hyde Park. An event insider said: “They don’t fit in with what we want. We feel that Steps are past their sell-by date. “They were really keen to do it but the line-up is very strong and they are too poppy and lightweight.” Seems odd to say they’re too poppy for a show featuring Hear’Say and Ronan Keating. Not exactly the Monsters Of Rock festival, is it? The final comment isn’t mine its by the editor Domonic Mohan. Just a quick thought here – and I’m not laying into Steps here or anyone else in that matter – just last years Party In The Park got a lot of stick from people saying that the majority of the acts where not doing it live – only the US acts where doing it live where as most of the UK acts did a miming show. This year they might want it more live hence they’ve got acts like Hear’Say, Ronan Keating, Atomic Kitten etc. who have done it live on more occasions.
