On Top Of The Pops Plus, on BBC2 this afternoon Steps let slip (well basically just said!) that the tour date tickets will go on sale on Monday 4th June which is the same day as the the new single. H also said that there will be dates in Cardiff. This indicates that the tour is set to play the same venues as the last tour. No full dates as of yet but I’m sure they will be announced shortly, we’ll keep an eye open for events. More late breaking tour news, Manchester based radio station Key 103 FM today announced that Steps are due to play the Manchester Evening News Arena in late November / Early December and that the tickets go on sale from 9am this Friday 25th May. At this moment we know that Steps are due to play Sheffield Arena on 24th November 2001 and also Manchester and Newcastle dates where announced in the paper News Of The World who also say tickets are on sale from this Friday which should hopefully mean all the dates will be confirmed shortly – as soon as they are we’ll have them up here! It was also confirmed that the next single is the last from Buzz. On the new charts list week in the UK (Despite the strange moves of S Club returning to the top of the singles chart, and Geri Halliwell’s album only entering at number five on the album chart) Buzz re-entered the Top 100 at 85, moving up from number 151 last week! The Live video moves down to number 13 on the music videos chart. For full chart positions see our charts page! Steps are in the latest edition of Star magazine (22nd May – 4th June) which costs 1.70. There is an interview and pictures which span a huge six pages! Thanks to “Buzzsteps” for this information! Here’s the FHM details totally cleared up, 29th Lisa, 49th Claire & 56th Faye. We have news that the Greatest Hits album is currently due for release in October, and that a brand new album might be on the shelves as early as March 2002. Steps are supposed to have a major role in the new album perhaps co-writing the entire album! Also we all know that the Christmas single will be a cover of Chain Reaction (It will probably be a double-A single with an original Steps track) they are set to face these acts who might also be releasing singles that time of the year; Westlife, HearSay, 5ive, Ronan Keating & possibly Spice Girls making their comeback (again!) We also have unconfirmed news that US promotion might last three months from July until September. We’ll try and get that US news confirmed at some stage! Thanks to Eric for this news from Asia: Last night Mtv SEA has added the video Here and Now on the play list. It was supposed to be aired premiere on Mtv Fresh. But it turned out to be a istake The vj who presented the show said that she would be playing STEPS here and now. But it wasn’t here and now. Somehow someway I don’t know it was Summer of love that Mtv played. I think that was just an ordinary mistake made by Mtv. Also before the video was played, there was a bit interview while they were visiting Japan a couple of weeks ago. More on the Billboard story, this is why Barnes & Noble think STEPS failed in the US the first time around; Mary Collins, manager at Borders Books and Music in Newark, N.J., says that in the case of STEPS, there was something missing from the start. “It was just too light for American kids. Even preteens here require a small amount of sophistication in their pop music, and there was no edge to this group. They were almost too clean and innocent, odd as that sounds. It was charming but just didn’t work for this part of the world.” More US news, it seems that Jive US have a different attitude this time around especially with the success of S Club 7 in the US at this moment in time. Most US people do expect Steps to do well in the US its just a case of getting the right song released for them.
