Steps record Manchester gig for BBC iPlayer
Last night (10 August), Steps recorded an intimate gig for BBC iPlayer at the O2 Ritz in Manchester. Tickets were allocated to a tiny number of fans (about 50) to ensure the gig could be recorded in a Covid-safe way. The recording was part of a series of music gigs the BBC is planning to show on BBC iPlayer to celebrate live music.
Steps superfan Matt was in the audience. He said:
Ok so that was pretty amazing. Was such an intimate setting, max 50 people. The set list was great and worked well. Like everyone said I would’ve included Something In Your Eyes. From memory, most versions used were the same as the party tour. Deeper Shade Of Blue definitely had a longer intro but I couldn’t say if it was the same as the Summer Tour. Take Me For A Ride sounded great live but it lacked choreography – there was like three moves. A great evening though and I feel privileged to have seen them in such an intimate setting.
The set list was:
- Deeper Shade Of Blue
- What The Future Holds
- Chain Reaction
- Take Me For A Ride
- One For Sorrow
- Heartbreak In This City (Acoustic)
- Scared Of The Dark
- Stomp
- Tragedy
The gig marked the first time the group has performed Take Me For A Ride live – and Heartbreak In This City with Lisa present. Tragedy and Heartbreak In This City were recorded twice.
