Just to recap what I typed up on the main page yesterday: Gold sold 146,000 copies last week! Kylie at number two managed 80,000 so Steps easily outsold her! Let’s all hope these sales figures continue like this as Gold looks set to pass the sales figures of Buzz.

According to Worldpop, Steps are set to retain the number one position in this week’s albums chart:

US rapper Afroman looks set to hold on to the No 1 spot on the UK singles chart this week according to midweek sales figures. Afroman is currently outselling Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head by 2:1. Five are this week’s highest new entry on the chart with their farewell single, Closer To Me but elsewhere there is little change to the Top 10 which sees Mis-Teeq at No 4, City High at No 5 and Britney dropping to No 6 with I’m A Slave 4 U. Michael Jackson’s You Rock My World drops to No 8. Meanwhile on the album charts Steps retain the No 1 position with their Greatest Hits album, Gold. The band stopped traffic at Birmingham’s city centre this weekend with a PA at the city’s HMV store. Over 2,000 fans turned up to meet the band. Pulp’s new album We Love Life is a new entry at No 3 while Incubus have a new entry at No 4. David Gray’s White Ladder album moves back up to No 5.

I’ve seen the sales figures for the top 10 singles, it seems that Steps will be dropping outside the top 10 with Chain Reaction.

If you saw TOTP on Friday then you’d have caught a preview performance of the song. The video is now on the satellite music channels including MTV, Kiss and of course The Box. So, if you want to catch a glimpse of the special effects and cartoon-packed new video (one of our most expensive to date!) get requesting on The Box selection No.808!
